This! Ain’t that the truth. More often than not award shows are, by nature, political and stupid. Someone will have to restrain me from telling him this in person in a few days except not really because I’m sure I won’t actually be able to form words. So yeah, hopefully he knows/cares that he’s loved and appreciated, even if it’s not coming to him (yet) in the form of a shiny award.

Because while I shouldn’t be surprised that he continues to take these things so seriously and so personally, I kind of wish he wouldn’t. I’m actually rather surprised that he attended the ceremony at all. That he didn’t win really is no reflection on him; I mean, consider all the famous actors who never won an Oscar. Hopefully he realizes this, because, god, the fact that he tends to feel so underappreciated really saddens me.

Why: Been kicking this little idea around for a while, so polishing and posting it seemed long overdue. Expanding on a bit from my last fic:
To see how much he could make David relax and let go of everything. To see that manic energy but without those underlying concerns for politeness and propriety. He’d love to see what David would be like when he’s properly wrecked.

I’m assuming you’re referring to this year’s specific BAFTAs rather than the awards in general? If so, well, I don’t have any strong feelings about them aside from the Leading Actor category. As I’m sure you’ve guessed, if you follow this blog, I would explode in a glorious shower of rainbows and kittens if John Simm won. Because the man seriously deserves a BAFTA, being one of the best actors of our time. However, much like Simm himself, I don’t really expect him to get it. He’s got a history of being snubbed by award shows, for one thing, and it looks like there are some very popular actors in the category with him. Still, an actor’s worth really can’t be measured by award shows, so, eh. Que sera, sera.
…And if you weren’t looking for Simm-centric thoughts on the BAFTAs, then, er. You’ve come to the wrong blog. You’ll need to be more specific. :3
